I’ll always be adding to this page and in the future, when I talk about certain products/services, I’ll be sure to reference this page where you can find more information about it.

BOOKS

I love to read and am always trying to learn more.

My belief is that if you aren’t learning, you aren’t growing and therefore, you aren’t really living life to its fullest.

Below are the books that have had the biggest impact on me.

I know time can be an issue when it comes to reading. My trick to reading more books is to listen to audiobooks. They allow me to “read” while driving, mowing, working out, and more. While I still love to sit down and read books, audiobooks help me to read more. And with my endless list of books to read, this is a good thing! If you want to start listening to audiobooks, here is a free 30 day trial to Audiobooks. The best part is you get 3 FREE books just for trying it out! Click here to get started!

compound effectThe Compound Effect, Darren Hardy: The Compound Effect is by the author of Success Magazine, Darren Hardy. I love this book because I know and understand compounding in terms of finance and earning interest, but never tied it to everything else in my life. The idea is that if you can do a handful of small things to improve your life every day, they will compound into a big change over time. Suddenly, when the future comes, you will be that much better of a person simply because you took small steps each day to better yourself. It inspired me to take action on some goals I had been putting off simply because they seemed too overwhelming. But by breaking them into small steps, I have made a lot of progress. It’s a quick read that I really enjoyed and think you will as well. Click here to buy on Amazon.

thinking fast and slowThinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman: This book is a great breakdown of the two types of thinking our brains do – fast and slow. For example, why do we regret purchases? It’s because we give into the advertisement we see and buy on impulse (think fast). Then when our rational side catches up (think slow) a few days later, we realize we never needed the item in the first place. It’s a great book that will make you think and change at how you look at making all of the decisions you make in life. Just do your best to not allow the size of the book overwhelm you and have you think twice about buying it. Trust me, it is worth the read. Click here to buy on Amazon.

the secretThe Secret, Rhonda Byrne: The Secret is a great introduction into the New Age thinking that our thoughts lead to things and we attract what we think. Think of your thoughts as magnets that pull, or attract, the things you want most in life. While you won’t magically find $1 million dollars on your doorstep tomorrow because you think about it, you can improve your life dramatically when you harness the power of thoughts becoming things. You’ve probably heard about this book when Oprah promoted it. It is a great introduction to thinking differently and in believing that good things will come to you. Click here to buy on Amazon.

law of attractionLaw of Attraction, Michael Losier: This book is a great follow up book to The Secret for anyone looking to start thinking in a more positive manner. So if you are looking to get into this type of thinking, I suggest you start with The Secret and then move on to this book. The book teaches you how to start thinking so that you attract the things into your life that you want and helps you to figure out your true calling in life. The book is easy to read and the principles are easy to follow. I personally enjoyed the exercises that are given throughout the book to help you get started with thinking this new way. magic of thinking bigThe Magic of Thinking Big, David Schwartz: I got the audio version of The Magic of Thinking Big and listened to it while driving and also while at the gym working out. It helps you to change your thinking from negative to positive, from small to big and is a great motivator in helping you to believe that you can have all of the things you want. But not only does it cover just the thinking side of things, the book also helps you with changing your habits for the better as well. The advice given is simple and actionable. Many of the strategies I started using right away. I am sure that reading the physical book is great, but I loved the voice of the man reading it to me in the audio version. Definitely check it out. quitterQuitter, John Acuff: My wife first read Quitter and encouraged me to read it. What an eye-opener. Making the switch from your current job to your dream job is full of various challenges, frustrations and stress. If you just focus on these things, you will never make a change, because there is never a perfect time to make the leap. This book will help you to navigate the waters of this change and help you to keep your sanity, happiness and current job at the same time. It will also break down all of your excuses as to why pursuing your dream job can’t be done. If you hate your job now but are unsure at how you can ever make the leap to your dream job, this book is a must read for you. Click here to buy on Amazon.

power of habitThe Power of Habit, Charles Duhigg: This book is all about the power of habits, both good and bad. Throughout the book, there are examples of how people and businesses have used habits to better their lives or how to improve product sales. The author also show you how habits have an impact (both good and bad) for society as a whole. Towards the end of the book the author provides a 4 step process on how to overcome any habit you want to rid from your life. You can also take information from this process on how to actually create the good habits you want to incorporate into your life. Click here to buy on Amazon.

DIET AND EXERCISE

I love working out and eating right.

Yes, I love pizza and burgers too, but the sleep I get is so much better when I am eating right and I am never tired during the day.

Below are some of the products I swear by when it comes to diet and exercise.

vitamixVitamix Blender: This blender is just incredible. We make smoothies, peanut butter and soups all of the time using it. The cookbook that it comes with tells you of all sorts of other things you can make with this blender as well. Even better, you can search online and find many other recipes. It is pricey, but is completely worth it. If you have doubts and have a Costco membership, see if there is a demonstration at your local club. You will be amazed. brevilleBreville Convection Toaster Oven: We got this as a wedding gift after I used one at a friend’s house. This thing is incredible. We make everything in it. My wife personally loves the broil function. Being a convection oven, it heats up quickly. The only time we use the actual oven is when something doesn’t fit in the Breville. And just and FYI, the Breville is big enough to fit most things, yet surprisingly doesn’t take up a lot of counter space. Click here to buy on Amazon.

paleo dietPaleo Diet: My wife and I did a Paleo diet cleanse last year for 45 days. It was interesting to only eat “real” food. Surprisingly, I only craved my pizza and burgers that first week. After that, the cravings were gone. I lose close to 20 pounds and my wife lost 12 pounds. This is a 30 day guide that covers the Paleo diet. You get over 180 recipes and two 30 day meal plans. It’s a great way to get started on a Paleo diet and a healthier lifestyle. Click here to get your guide!

Polar H10 Heart Rate MonitorPolar H10 Heart Rate Monitor: If you want to reach your diet and fitness goals, having a heart rate monitor is a must have. I like using a chest strap like the Polar H10 because of its accuracy. I find it works much better than wrist worn fitness trackers. And with the H10, you can pick from over 100 activities to monitor your heart rate. It also keeps logs of your workouts so you can view your progress over time. Finally, it gives you audible reminders so you know what training zone you are in. You can buy the Polar H10 here.

YOGA AND MEDITATION

Yoga and meditation are both great options for physical health as well as mental health.

In addition to this, there is stress relief, which we all know experts are finding to be a major player in our early demise.

Below are some of the yoga and meditation products I use and recommend.

mandukaManduka Yoga Mat: I love this mat because well, it is worth the price. I went through a bunch of lower cost mats that would last me a few months max. When added together, they cost more than this mat does. And this mat has lasted me much, much longer and it doesn’t smell because it doesn’t absorb my sweat. I love how cushiony it is and that it has a lifetime warranty. Plus it is eco-friendly. You can’t go wrong buying this yoga mat.

yoga for beginnersYoga For Beginners and Beyond: I love this DVD series for the 3 discs that it comes with. There is a beginners yoga disc, a disc for inflexible people (that was me!!), and a disc for stress relief. I chose this set because as I mentioned, I was inflexible. I knew I would get frustrated trying to follow a routine where I couldn’t do the majority of poses. This set allowed me to improve my flexibility and get the poses down right before moving onto the main yoga disc. As an added bonus was the stress relief disc which comes in handy from time to time when life gets hectic. I can pop this disc in and within a couple minutes am more calm and relaxed.

meditation for beginnersMeditation for Beginners: Meditation is a great skill to learn since it has so many positive effects on our mood, mind, and overall life. This is a great DVD for the beginner. The disc is split into 3 sections, a basic yoga section, which helps you to better master meditation, a body scan section where you learn about mindfulness with your body, and a meditation part where you learn the basics of meditation.
